Are You Getting Fooled by Fake News? No Seriously, Are You?

 Read and Reflect

Read the following article, "Is Fake News Fooling Kids? New Report Says Yes" by Kelly Wallace

Source: Wallace, K., 2017, "Is Fake News Fooling Kids? New Report Says Yes", CNN Retrieved from http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/10/health/fake-news-kids-common-sense-media/

As you read, ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do you agree that kids often will share fake news without verifying if it is correct. Have you shared or received fake news?

2. If we rely on family for accurate information in the news, what if our parents are also fooled?

3. Do you agree that the media does not showcase people your age enough?

4. The article states that next to family, tweens and teens prefer to get information from social media. Do you agree with this fact?

5. Why should care about where they get their information? And should kids care if it is accurate or not?
