Dear Students, Parents & Caregivers,Welcome back to another school year with Regina Catholic Schools Learning Online! If you’re new to our program, we’re excited to have you join our learning community. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been continuing to accept registrations and preparing for a strong start. I wanted to share a few important updates with you. As always, please reach out to myself or Marcia if you have any questions.🔑 New Login Experience – Effective Wednesday, October 1Starting October 1, the login screen will look slightly different for both students and staff (see the image below for a preview).
No action needed other than using your current Microsoft 365 username and password. (firstname.lastname@rcsd.ca & password) This change aligns with RCSD IT’s scheduled password update for Microsoft 365 accounts happening at the same time.Everything else will continue to work as it does now — students and staff will log in as usual, just through the updated page that will appear October 1st. Below is only an image/example.<image.png>🧭 Keeping Students on TrackTo help support student success, we are monitoring engagement more closely this year.
If a student hasn’t logged in, reminders will be sent to parents/guardians at Day 7, Day 14, and Day 21. I have asked our teachers to conduct check-ins as well. It's difficult for us to navigate why a student's progress is declining through the screen. Reasons a student is not engaging could be as simple as being away on holidays or various legitimate reasons. At the same time, students can run into struggles - if we know we can do our best to help. A big thank you in advance for helping us understand as items arise. If your child is away or unable to engage for a legitimate reason, please let us know so we can support them appropriately. If we wait too long, students may be in a position they cannot recover and missed too much of the course to realistically complete it. Let's work together to try to avoid that.📊 Weekly Progress ReportsParents will continue to receive a weekly progress report by email showing student activity and completion updates every Wednesday.
Edsby will still provide a weekly snapshot, but the progress report email will be the most accurate and up-to-date source of information about how your child is doing.🤖 Responsible AI UseWe are introducing stricter procedures this year to address inappropriate use of AI tools. More information will be shared once our planning is finalized, but our goal is to ensure fair and authentic student learning.Thank you for partnering with us to make online learning successful and meaningful for your child. We look forward to an excellent year of growth and achievement.Blessings,Lee GaringerPrincipal – Learning Online
